MIA for too long

Hello my lovelies! I am B A C K !

It has been quite a year since I last posted and I am so sorry about that.

It was my last year as a college student and well, all my time was invested in getting excellent grades so I could graduate with an appropriate GPA (appropriate for my standards) and I must admit that in the end it was all worth it.

Even though I didn’t post as much as I would have liked, I did read a few novels and had so many lovely experiences that now in my free time I can share them with you guys. 😀

Truth is that I also want to organize this baby again, maybe do a makeover and keep it alive and interesting. I have so much time in my hands now that I believe I can keep Ojitosperle updated, as well as keep my bookstagram trending with amazing photos I can take of my always growing bookshelf.

Anyways, I am going to sit down and pick out the books I’d love to share my review about.

XOXO, Gabii.

I’m back to reading!

Hello my lovelies! I’m back!

So sorry that for five months I had been MIA. I started in August my senior year in college and I must admit that it’s harder than I thought.

I had been taking six courses, working and doing an internship; therefore, my free time was spent in sleeping, eating and doing HW. Not to worry! I survived! I passed all my courses, finished my internship and got my well deserved vacation from work.

Even though I now celebrate, my vacation from everything is almost at it’s end. In a week classes start and I also return to work, which means I won’t be able to read as much as I’d like to since I only need six more courses to Graduate in May.

Anyways, I’ll continue to add more gems to my collection. I may not be able to read as much as I’d like but I do buy books each time I find one I really like or want. Soon I’ll be posting my CR and catching up on my Book Hauls. Don’t even ask about my TBR ‘cuz it’s a disaster.

It was nice updating you my lovelies. I missed writing about my reading adventures very much.

Bookish Thought: Listography

Since a very young age I found myself writing down a few special things in random small notebooks or journals. Now that I’m older I found a book called Listography: Your life in lists. It’s quite fun to fill out. It made me think about many things that I’ve done and wish to do.

The idea of this book is to answer all the questions it has by listing things down. There are questions like

  • List your favorite websites
  • List your biggest sins
  • List the best days of your life

and so much more that actually is fun to read after months without sitting down to answer other questions.

I had also found another version of it called Love Listography: Your love life in lists. This book is between the love-hate feelings. There are things I enjoy remembering and others that I can barely stand. Love isn’t easy and that’s the beauty of it, that it makes you fight for it, but when you reflect on your own love life you notice that there were a few hiccups that you really didn’t need to deal with, but hey! the idea of the book is to list things down so when you get older you can read it and see how foolish and young you were. So to share a few questions it has there is

  • List the people you have kissed
  • List the things that turn you on
  • List places you like to go on date

and much more.

If you ever find yourself a bit bored and up for going down memory lane these books are for you. I’d share a few answers, but I actually want to wait a while so I can finish it and then maybe I can write about it.

The Liebster Award

Thanks to Birds that ♥ words for the nomination. This really made my day :’)

The Liebster is an award designed to recognise awesome young blogs, bring fellow bloggers together and spread the love.

I’m a new blogger in WordPress so this is an amazing idea to get bloggers to connect. I can’t wait to keep meeting more bibliophiles!

Here are the rules:

Eleven Questions

1. What are your top three favorite books of all time?

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brönte, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, and In Search of the Rose Notes by Emily Arsenault.

2. Good boy or Bad boy? – who do you hope gets the girl in love triangles

Yikes! this is a hard one. I think it depends really on the story. I know that when I began reading Shatter Me I wanted her to end with Aaron Warner and he’s the bad boy. A very attractive bad boy btw xD

3. Do you have a routine before you start reading?

Yes, I have to prepare my comfy spot with tons of pillows before I sit begin reading.

4. Why a book blog? How did you start?

I began blogging years ago about my personal life, a few experiences that I thought could be shared with others. After that I gradually decided that I needed to separate my personal stuff from my book passion, and that’s how Ojitosperle was born. It began on Tumblr and I decided to also have Ojitosperle on WordPress. 🙂

5. Who are your top three favourite female lead book characters and why?

Katniss, Amy Dunne and America Signer.
– Katniss and America because they did what they thought was right for them and for those they cared about.
– Amy Dunne because she’s a goddess! As messed up as she was in the book, she was able to get away with everything and that my friends is hard to do.

6. If you were to rewrite a book, which book and why?

All the Bright Places, because I didn’t want it to end the way it did even if the ending had a purpose.

7. What is your favourite book to movie adaptation?

Gone Girl 100% sure. They stayed loyal to the book.

8. What book to you recommend the most?

Sharp Objects and In Search of the Rose Notes.

9. If you could become a character in a book, who would you choose and why?

I’d choose to be America Singer from The Selection Series. I don’t know really, I just enjoyed her attitude during the whole competition (even if she got annoying sometimes).

10. What is the best piece of blogging advice you’ve received?

To blog from the heart. Anyone can sit down and write a few blog posts, but a few can actually write something relatable.

11. If you were a bird which bird would you be and why?

I’d be a finch. There are small and adorable, just like me. xD

Eleven Random Facts

  1. I’m a dog and cat mommy.
  2. Sushi is my weakness.
  3. Not a fan of strawberries, even if they are covered in chocolate.
  4. Roaches freak me out. (EWWW!)
  5. My friends say I’m an extrovert, but they don’t know that I just turn the switch on when I’m determined to make a good impression to future employers or connections.
  6. I LOVE LOVE LOVE horror, thriller, suspense movies even if they freak me out.
  7. I know how to make french macarons ❤
  8. I absolutely hate driving at night. Wont catch me dead driving late.
  9. I’m a former art student that enjoys painting flower canvas.
  10. I sometimes feel like I suffer from anxiety, but then I remember that I just can’t stand people that do stupid things. xD

Favorite Bookmarks in my collection

I own about 15 bookmarks but there are always a few that I choose everytime I begin reading a new book.

Here are four of my favorite ones and how they came to be mine.

Cat Bookmark – it used to be my aunts favorite bookmark. We both had an obsession with cats and were determined to own everything that had cat images, cat quotes, anything that had a cat in it really. When she got married she left tons of her cat memorabilia for me and one of those things was this cat bookmark. I love love love it! I just love cats so when I found this baby in the box she left me I was super excited and happy. It’s my #1 favorite bookmark from my whole collection.

Fox Bookmark – this baby is a printable bookmark I found on Pinterest and honestly there was a time in which I had this small need to have many cute fox things like pins and images for my screensaver, and when I was searching for the images I remembered that I had found some printable bookmarks and that one of them was a fox. BINGO! I printed it out and have used it way more than the others, even though lately I have given it some rest since I noticed it was starting to bend a bit and I don’t want it to tear.

Cat in the Hat Bookmark – I bought this baby last year in my visit to Island of Adventures. I was determined to buy everything Thing One related, so I had picked the t-shirts that said Thing 1 and Thing 2. When I had reached the door after I had paid I noticed this bookmark in one of the shelves and I got so excited to see how cute the fish made it that I turned back and bought it. It’s a bit hard to use it since some times the fish part can tear the page a lil, but I still consider it my favorite just because it has to do with Thing 1.

Cat in the Hat PaperClip Bookmark – I bought it as a birthday gift a few weeks ago. My friends and I went to Island of Adventures to celebrate my birthday so once I had gotten everything I wanted from the stores I searched through the racks that had bookmarks just to find myself walking out without a bookmark. I was so so sad, and then we went to the Universal Store in the Universal park and there they had tons of bookmarks. That made me so happy and I felt happier when I found this beauty behind a few Harry Potter bookmarks. I left proud of myself just because I truly love Cat in the Hat thanks to Thing 1. I have used it on one book only and I must admit that the bookmark looks super cute on the book.

Do you have any favorite bookmarks? Care to share them with your fellow readers and bookworms? I’d love to see the bookmark that you enjoy the most. We all have different tastes and to know which design you love the most makes me happy just because you took the time to share it with everyone. 🙂

Top 10 Bookstagrams I Totally Love

I’m a social media freak. No, I’m not those addicted people that need to be on social media 24/7, but because of my major and the job I wish to pursue I have to be active in the social media world. Heck! I don’t complain; my internship is based on social media performance so I embrace my appreciation for the different social platforms with tons of love.

There are a few social media platforms that I use, but the one that I pay more attention to is Instagram. Yeah, we have Facebook (in which some people post stupid things that make me lose hope in humanity) and we have Twitter (in which a few teens just abuse of it by posting tons of perverted comments that fill my TL completely and annoy me to the maximum). Instagram is based on how you captivate a person’s attention with just an image. Yes, you need the perfect caption that complements that picture, but the picture is the main star.

When I began my bookstagram, I was a bit lost on the style I wanted to portray; therefore, I decided to explore a bit and find other accounts that knew how to sell their images in a way that attracted many followers. I’m glad I did explore because I found so many amazing bookstagrams that left me speechless. Their pictures looked breath-taking, the way it all followed a pattern was flawless and it all had its special signature mark that made you connect with the owner of that account.

Thanks to the talented bookstagramers we have on Instagram, we can find inspiration and motivation. So here I will share with you the Top 10 Bookstagrams I Totally Love (they are not in order of which I like the most, I just love them all).

  1. Reading on Cloud 9
  2. Bookish Worlds
  3. Marine’s Books
  4. Giralka
  5. Craftasticness
  6. Demeriahh
  7. Aly Reads
  8. Book Vibes
  9. Book Baristas
  10. A Book Eater

Now please don’t get me wrong, there are many bookstagrams that I enjoy very much. Heck! I follow a lot of bookstagrams, but these amazing accounts need to be recognized and I think you should give them a look.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I have. These ladies have a talent to amaze you with their passion for books and magical touch in each photography.

Have any bookstagrams that you enjoy? Would you like me to check your account and follow? Just comment it below and I will give it a look. 🙂

I would like to thank Sic from The Lit Mermaid for the Blogger Recognition Award nomination. I really can’t thank you enough for this, you truly made my day with this nomination.

How Did My Blog Start?

My blog actually began on Tumblr. I found refuge in that blogging platform and used it as my diary five or six years ago. I used to post personal experiences and my book life. After a while I decided to separate my personal blog from my bookish life and so was born Ojitosperle. This year I noticed that many of my fellow bookstagramers preferred WordPress for blogging so I decided to give it a try and I must admit that it has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t abandoned the original book blog on Tumblr, but I use this one way way more than that one. It’s the perfect place where I can share my thoughts on a book, let you know bits and pieces of me and also get to know more bookworms.

My Advice To New Bloggers?

I’ve never thought of having a “successful” blog, but just one in which I find myself comfortable to manage and that is a reflection of who I am, or at least shows a part of me. So here are a few tips I thought of:

  • Choose whatever blogging platform that fits with your tastes and needs (ei. WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, etc). I
  • Your name should be easy to remember and should represent you.
  • Be creative and honest to who you are when editing your page or a post. I enjoy seeing an original blog in which its owner pours his or her heart out to make it their own.
  • You can never go wrong with adding photos/pictures to your post.
  • Appreciate other bloggers because we are part of an amazing community. We can boost each other’s confidence and create a positive space for us, bloggers. Show some gratitude if you receive a compliment and if you can, also compliment someone else blog, you can make their day with just a few nice words.
  • Write about things that make you happy or you think are worth being known about.
  • Try to post as often as you can.
  • Explore a few blogs, like a few posts, get to know your fellow bloggers, even if it’s by participating in challenges or book tags.

To be honest, I don’t know many people from this blogging community, but those bookworms that I do know are truly amazing people that deserve to be recognized.

Reading Habits Book Tag

Another tag to do. Yay! I saw the reading habits book tag in LazyCaramelReads blog.

Let’s get it started!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Yes, I do. I usually read in my bed room. It’s so comfy and if I fall asleep I’m already in bed so it’s perfect.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmarks always. I have a tons of bookmarks I printed myself and a few cute Cat in the Hat bookmarks I bought in Island of Adventures.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I usually stop after I finish the chapter, that way I don’t stress if I forget what happened in the chapter.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Both. Munching while reading is so good, specially if I’m munching oreos.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

TV while reading. Music is way more distracting.

One book at a time or several at once?

I usually read one book at a time, but this month I have several. Such a mess. xD

Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere, but I enjoy reading at home more.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Reading silently in my head. Tried reading out loud and mom called me a weirdo. xD

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I can never bring myself to skip pages. I tried and ended up going back to read the page.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

KEEPING THEM LIKE NEW! I dislike breaking the spine, it’s killing the book (even if it give it character like some people say)

Do you write in your books?

No, I enjoy reading them. I’ll let other people write them so I can continue reading them. 🙂

Give this book tag a try. I’d love to read your answers xD

The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Book Tag

So I was checking a few blogs and stubbled upon LazyCaramelReads blog. I saw this cute book tag post she had and decided to give it a try.

Let’s get start this!

How long have you been a blogger?

I have been a blogger for 6 years. Started blogging in Tumblr and this year I decided to give WordPress a try, so I transferred a few posts from my book blog to this blog.

At what point do you think you will stop?

I will never stop. Blogging is a way of letting things out even if maybe someone won’t read it. It’s a journal that holds pieces of my life.

What is the best thing?

Allowing others to have a peek at pieces of my life. It’s kinda exciting knowing that maybe someone enjoys my weird random posts.

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

Finding myself not knowing what of everything I should blog about. In this book blog I usually struggle keeping up with reviews and in my personal blog (in Tumblr) I struggle with choosing what experience to share. I just write many posts, leave them in draft and then randomly choose one.

How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?

About 5 minutes at most. I do struggle with the lighting for my photos, but I always find a way to work with it. I just love all the photos I take (VSCO Cam is the best)

Who is your book crush?

This is such a difficult question! I have many crushes, but to pick one I’ll say Will from The Infernal Devices.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

A lotttt. To many to just name a few xD

What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

Anything I have on in the moment I feel inspired to blog, i guess.

How long does it take you to prepare?

I dont usually finish a post in one sitting because things always come up and I tend to be a perfectionist so I keep changing bits and pieces. xD

How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

Still trying to make new friends in this huge and amazing community, but I like it so far.

What do you think one should do to get a successful blog?

I’m not sure lol. I just blog for fun, I don’t focus in having a very successful blog since we all have our special way of blogging.

Who do you tag?

I’ll tag my bookish friend Scribbling Owlet and Forwards and Bookworms.

This was such a cute tag. If you’d like to do it, feel free to. 🙂
